Enjoyed the pictures. So envious that you had a great day w/ all those gorgeous catch!! It’s snowing in Cambridge…yuk! Enjoying SoCal Salty! Thank you.
So, whats the story with logging the catch?? Are the boats required to report their fish on arrival back at the dock ?? And I thought NY’s VTRs were annoying LOL
Capt Paul, you don’t want to talk to that pretty young lady about your catch 😉 She’s actually with 5 Star Fish Processing. They log your catch, filet the fish, smoke it if you like, and vacuum pack the finished product. The long range captains will radio when they are coming in, and then 5 Star is there at the dock to meet the boat.
I see, so it is not really a fisheries reporting type of thing then correct?? It’s more along the lines of the convenience of having your fish cleaned, yes?? Or is 5 Star obligated to report the catches to the fishery management group out there??
Here the charter boats are required to fill out a VTR ( Vessel Trip Report) which is then filed with the NY Dept Of Environmental Conservation for their record keeping system. 🙂
Not sure if 5 Star interfaces with the DFG, but I don’t think so. They serve the anglers. BTW, check out today’s post. Not all shorts and flip flops out here. Strong winds yesterday, up to 60mph in spots. Pretty choppy out there yesterday too.
