Pre-dawn at Dock 52

Pre-dawn at Dock 52

I’m not going to do a full trip report.  If you want to see one, check out my buddy Jimmy Bass’ account of the day HERE.

Fishing-wise, my day was characterized by lots of short sculpin, some odd catches, and practice on the weak part of my fishing game…bass.  But as I told galley cook, Mike Bibeau, on the way out…”It’s not like I need to take home fish, I’m just here to enjoy the day.”

Making it’s way into the bag for me was one legal sculpin (check it off the Top 10) and one calico bass.  I released probably a dozen or more short sculpin, a small vermilion rockfish (out of season), a keyhole limpet (a type of sea snail), and a sea cucumber.  In terms of enjoying the day though…from the cold, dark start, it turned into a sunny, calm day out in the bay, fishing with friends.  Mission accomplished.
