   I love fishing for shallow water Rockfish using plastics. I use an 8oz Burnt orange Jax Jig and shrimp fly for deeper water cod. Rarely do I ever fish bait for COD, boring!

     I hear ya Cory. This situation was a little different, there was a lot of wind and current and we were fishing up to 270! I went up to 14 oz at points to get down. I like using a similar setup to what you are describing, but it was impossible to go that way given the conditions. Thanks for stopping by!
