Good start… My Uniflite has 200 gal of diesel and can do the local islands just fine. At 32 feet works well for local overnights at Catalina or San Clemente Island. Bait is another hot point and he covers it well. Get the best Fish Finder you can find and operate. Get it professionally installed right. If you are after marlin a bow tank holding 8-15 gal of water would be a nice thing.
One thing I’ll change from many of the boats I see out there (and ride on) is that the display screens are often fixed in place. I love that most of mine are able to swivel or adjust some. It helps for them to move a little. Glare in the day time at that one heading you need to hold or to reduce light in your eye at night when you need to see or other times for various reasons.
No one boat is perfect but you can find the one that has the best combination of features and solutions for the many compromises each boat has to make… Space, weight, cost, etc.
PS on your boat inspections… Look at the anchor locker and the full road length. Knots or frays is one thing. Looking at the inside of the boat hull on the inside of the anchor locker will also be telling. You want good usable ground tackle if you fish a lot.
