I’m a huge fan of the Tidelog (http://www.tidelog.com/what-is-tidelog/) since I learned of them from Capt Mark Wisch about 5 years ago. For a private boat it’s an absolute. For sportboat fishing I deem it a worthwhile investment for trip planning, etc. There is SO much information in the book and I haven’t figured out yet how to use it all, or if it all matters. But, to get the relationship between tide and moon location is very nice to know.
If you have heard Mark’s seminar on WSB fishing, his experience is that the fish bite when the moon is either directly overhead or directly below your feet. This book helps you assess that assertion. Another nice feature is that it has room to make notes and serve as a fishing log for historical reference, if you choose.
